Port Huron traffic data from MDOT

St Clair traffic data from MDOT
Huron Ave sees on average a lower traffic volume compared to the M29 corridor in St Clair that recently went through a road dieting process in 2019.

We can a look at these numbers and come to some conclusions that Downtown Port Huron would not be adversely affected by a road diet when looking at similar travel patterns and results of road diets in the region. Also useful to note that we see less traffic in our main street corridor because we have 2 other city maintained bridges that provide a shorter and more convenient north south thoroughfare for motorists. You can see this that after the Glennwood intersection at the norther part of the CBD, there is a steep drop off in traffic volume as motorists use alternate routes to their destinations. When compared to St Clair, the inverse is true because the one draw bridge is their only bottle neck in north south travel. After you get south of Brown street, traffic counts increase as you get closer to the CBD because that is the only convenient way to get south.
